On Saturday, April 24, BPAC and the Alexandria Spokeswomen led small-group rides to explore some of Alexandria’s statues, murals, sculptures, and other public art. Highlights included Groundswell, the 2021 installation in the Site See: New Views in Old Town annual public art series; Flock, which consists of 100 polycarbonate birds twinkling in the trees along the Holmes Run Trail; Come Together, the new mural created by two students at T.C. Williams High School to express support for the Black Lives Matter movement; and the mural outside the Pedego store, which contains both a hidden bicycle and an optical illusion.
Below are some photos from the ride. Photo credits: Serdar Jorayev, Josephine Liu, and Casey Kane.
A giant thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the ride happen.
